TMIP Block 2 Release 1 (B2R1)
In December, 2008 the Department of Defense (DoD) Milestone Decision Authority (MDA) recommended approval for fielding of the Theater Medical Information Program (TMIP) Block 2 Release 1 (B2R1) software to all three Services. This very important decision was made on the heels of former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Dr. S. Ward Cassells' policy requiring each military Service to use TMIP software to document medical care delivered on the battlefield.
TMIP Block 2 Release 1 newest capabilities include:
- Alternate Input Methods (AIMS) Forms (111 standard templates)
- Military Acute Concussion Evaluation (MACE) Forms
- Replaces SAMS patient encounter module
- Limited inpatient capability for Forward Resuscitative (Level II)
- Off-line demographic verification
- Drug-Drug/Drug-Allergy interaction screening
- AHLTA-Mobile tablet/desktop version
- TC2 associates patient record to the Theater PACS
- Improved infrastructure
- Updated MEDCIN codes
- New message structure and data sharing with the VA
- Technical Refresh: Windows XP, Oracle 10g, Server 2003
Support for fielding TMIP B2R1 was also provided in a memo by the Program Executive Officer (PEO) Joint Medical Information Systems (JMIS) stating that B2R1 had completed development and a Multi-Service Operational Test and Evaluation (MOT&E), was determined operationally effective, operationally suitable, and survivable, and would provide a significant capability improvement over Block 1 for current and future combat and contingency operations.
